Snow's going

After a rainy night our snow has almost gone - except for the frozen ruts on the road. Might venture out tomorrow if it doesn't ice up again.
Yesterday afternoon the sun came out for a while and it was beautiful. All the trees and plants were covered with ice crystals.

Let it Snow!

Woke up to 5cm (2")of snow this morning and it's still falling.

Been for a walk and it was absolutely silent except for the crunching noise made by my boots.

Soon after, all the cars were out - slipping and sliding on the hilly roads around here and causing all sorts of chaos. I watched a couple of minor bumps - will they ever learn?

Nearly 15cm (6") now and still coming down thick and fast!

Fancy Christmas Double Slider Card

Going to try and make this type of card in a class soon so off to play with my card stock to see if I can do it! I have several sets of measurements - Metric and inches so will try to decide which is the easiest to follow.

Well, not too bad for a first attempt. I'll make the join on the poly bag nearer the centre then hopefully it will open right up rather than just half way! At least then I'll be able to put an extra greeting on the top and bottom which will be revealed when the ribbon tab is pulled.

Snowflakes

Started making snowflake cards for classes later this month - here are the first 4. Used different diecuts from Nestabilities and Marianne and Imaginesce, Basic Grey and Bella Road double-sided papers - all from Crafts u Love.

Ist attempts

Just tried out the new camera and even managed to download my first pictures. Still a lot to learn about it but at least I can get to grips with all the functions before we go to Adelaide for our annual holiday in January!

Here are a few card samples I made for next week's Gold & White class.

Oh Bother

My dear old camera finally packed up and I decided it would be better upgrading rather than getting it repaired. It's done good service over the last 5 years or so and I've taken over 8000 pictures and many short videos with it. I've just returned from Kingston with a lovely new Sony Cyber Shot with a 4GB HD memory card and will spend some time getting to grips with all the new functions - face detection/smile shutter/antiwobble/wideangle lens...........

Hopefully I'll be able to post some pictures of this week's cards soon. I've made 5 in White & Gold for next week's classes including a concertina card and a money/voucher wallet. My ladies are going to be busy stamping, cutting, diecutting, punching and assembling some pretty, seasonal items

Poinsettia Class

Braved the rain lugging my craft box to Carshalton for a class this morning. After some last minutes changes we made these lovely cards.

Christmas Shopping

Managed to finish my Christmas shopping in Guildford. Used the Park & Ride - free parking and £1.30 for the bus so saved a lot on car park fees. It was also the monthly farmers market so tried lots of lovely local produce, a real bonus.

After walking around for nearly 5 hours I still had enough energy to pop into Polsden Lacey to admire the Autumn colours before the wind and rain finished them off.

Half Term

Had a short break in Witney with time to explore the Cotswold, Blenheim Palace and Oxford. The weather could have been better but all in all it was a super time with lots to see and do and a comfortable hotel with leisure centre and excellent food.

Today's efforts

Made three cards today. One for tomorrow's class and the other two for the following week. Haven't been home much as I've been enjoying my new found freedom since I got the all-clear to drive again on Monday. 8 weeks was a long time and it's good to be independant again!

Just as I thought

It's amazing how preparing the class list up to the end of the year and realising that my first class is in a couple of weeks time has finally stirred me into action.

Decided to use the two cute 'lady' dies I bought last week and made a series of cards mainly in black and white
