Glorious Spring Day

What lovely weather we've had for the last 2 weeks! Sunny and quite warm at times. I think this is the nicest time of year especially when the bluebells are out!

Just a couple of quick cards to share today - both of them were 'Make and Takes' from Crafts-U-Love. I loved the script style of greeting so I treated myself to the set. They are by Jane Gill for Woodware and cover words for any occasion.

Some bright cards

Need your shades on for these ones - started making them at 7.00am this morning while I was in the mood. Was given some stamps and these papers to use in a future class (at the craft shop where I'm a tutor) It's good to think 'outside the box' occasionally as I would never have chosen either for myself! Bright zingy colours aren't really my thing!

Picked up some great papers, a couple of stamps and an embossing folder while visiting CraftsUlove in Charlewood this morning. The Friday make-and-take was much more my style - using a Hero Arts stamp and some 'bling' (nail heads)in pastel pink.

Hastings

Had a fabulous day out in sunny Hastings on Saturday.

Spent the morning walking round the Old Town (where Foyles War is filmed) and exploring the many excellent museums - fishing & fishermen, maritime and shipwrecks. Had a delicious fish and chip lunch before sampling the West Cliff views.

While Clive was at the football (they were held to a 0-0 draw rather than the expected hammering by a much better side) I trundled round the shopping centre before retiring to the beach to read my book! All in all it was a most enjoyable day trip to a stunning south coast resort on an unexpected wind free and warm day. It's times like this when I wouldn't want to swap the UK for somewhere in Europe! Truly Britain at its best.

Mind you..............Australia is something else, and I'm counting down the days to my next visit 'Down Under'.

Here are a few more cards I made last week (while the computer was away receiving urgent care and attention after catching another dreadful virus)

This time I was playing with my old brayer and making resist backgrounds with Versamark ink on glossy cardstock

Spring at last!

Woke up to a beautiful sunny day and cloudless blue skies. Even the temperature is well into double figures. Decided the dining room needed sprucing up and have ripped off the old peeling wallpaper and started putting up some nice white wallpaper with a subtle art deco geometric pattern. I'm on my fourth roll and getting to a tricky bit round one of the doors. Think I'll call it a day as that's quite enough exercise and I'm starting to flag!


Here's a card I made yesterday for a monthly challenge - it was supposed to be a 'Diva' but this fashionable young women was the nearest I could get to the subject. Lots of black and white, velvet brads and 2 gorgeous feathers complete the picture.

On a Roll

Had another sucessful card class on Monday with 9 people! I'm usually lucky to get four and this was a tight squeeze. Black and white seems to be as popular a theme as ever and, even with 2 beginners, they managed to make 4 cards in the 2 hours. Here are my samples. The last one will be used in a more advanced class as it involves embossing the same image in black and then white then adding 'spotlights'






As I write this, on the last day of March, a heavy hailstorm is battering my daffodils. I managed to rescue some and put them in a vase. They won't last long but I can at least see them close up and enjoy their delicate perfume. The little 'tete a tete' ones are very robust and seem to stand up to all the British weather can dish out.
