Where did all the money go?

Finally things are slowing down a little.  We've been here nearly three weeks and have so far bought.......

A stunning house in Aberfoyle Park (with a huge craft room for me)

A new car - Metallic Blue Toyota Yaris - great fuel economy, 5 door automatic hatchback (Same as this one but with Australian rego)

A honey beige leather lounge suite with electric recliners - won't get it till after Christmas though

2 single beds for the girls and visitors when they come to stay (or me if Clive's snoring gets too much)

Seen a lovely table and chairs in IKEA so may take a trip there later in the week.

G'day all

Hit the ground running once we set foot on Australian soil - perhaps a little slower than our last week in the UK but not much.

Wednesday - shipped all our goods and camped on the floor for 2 nights
Got rid of last of furniture to charity
Friday Bought the one-way tickets then moved to Iain's and did loads of paperwork
Monday our first 'quiet' day and meal out (still living out of a suitcase)
Tuesday - on to our first B&B in Cheam after a lovely day at Devil's Dyke and pub lunch
Thursday - 3rd farewell lunch and on to final home before leaving for Oz
Friday - farewell at Crafts-U-Love - thanks for the lovely chocolate cake Paula & Geoff and the card and gift.  Sold my car in the evening
Saturday - helped make the bacon and sausage rolls for the mens' breakfast and Rugby at St Paul's
Sunday - a real quiet day and repacking suitcases
Monday - the long journey began..........................

Wednesday arrived Adelaide
Thursday - trip to Brighton and looked at a few houses
Friday - catching up with forums and Facebook after sorting out all our banking needs in the City
Saturday - first lot of 'opens' and may have found our dream house - plan to put in an offer on Monday!

Sleeping well and over the jet-lag.  Its great being with all the family again.

Nearly there

Finally, after five attempts, contracts were exchanged at 3.00pm on Wednesday!  (Just a couple of hours after we waved goodbye to all our worldly good packed up in 82 boxes in the back of a white van).  We have now moved out of the house and cleared the rest of the unwanted stuff, although the completion day is next Thursday.  We are currently staying in Iain's house while he is on a golfing holiday in Portugal but plan to stay a few days with friends until we fly our in 10 days time.

I spent a frustrating 90 minutes trying to book our flights but couldn't get the airline we wanted as there were no connecting flights available to Adelaide for at least three weeks!  We have to a special 'migration' flight to validate our Visa (one-way) which gives us a larger baggage allowance as we need access to masses of paperwork and extra clothes etc as we will not be united with our shipment until Christmas.

On the 3rd October we leave Heathrow via Hong Kong on a Cathay Pacific flight and set foot on Aussie soil exactly 5 years to the day that Karen and Paul arrived. - what  an amazing coincidence!  My internet access is seriously curtailed as I packed the internet power cable by mistake.  Luckily I have the use of Iain's computer over the weekend  mabut y have to spend some time in McDonalds using their free wireless access and my laptop. Hopefully the promised offers of B&B will be forthcoming as we experience a nomadic life for a while.  Watch this space!

camping out

Really could have done with a lie-in.  Sleeping on the sofa cushions on the floor was surprisingly comfortable

I could really do with a lie-in. Today was exhausting.
