Emily's quilt - getting there

Added the setting triangles and have started sewing the strips together for Emily's quilt.

Blessed are the children (or grandchildren) of the piecemakers, for they shall inherit the quilts!

Autumn Leaves Runner

Finished off the table runner while we were up in Clare.  Was lovely sitting sewing in front of a blazing log fire in the cool evenings (accompanied by a glass of port)

Burra

Burra is a facinating heritage town on the edge of the Clare Valley and home of the 'Monster Mine' one of the first copper mines is South Australia and one of the richest too.  This Museum is a replica of the Morphett Engine Tower (used to pump water from the mining shafts).  Morphett was one of the owners of the mine and his name lives on in a suburb near us - Morphett Vale.

Just a few of the stunning quilts at the Corromandel Quilter's Annual Exhibition. Very inspiring and I knew a couple of the people too. Picked up some helpful tips and hints along the way.

Mother's Day

Today is Mother's Day in Australia (Lucky me, I get 2 as Iain sent me a card for the UK one just before Easter)

Had a lovely lunch with Karen and the family and gave her a table runner that I finished off last night.  Its in shades of blue and brown and looks great on her dining room table.

Free Motion Quilt Along - Let's Wiggle!

Going to have to learn this technique soon for finishing off the borders of some of my table runners/quilts.  Got several cut out and in different stages.

1. Autumn - top made

2. Brown table runner - piecing the squares together then I'll add 2 appliqued end pieces and a border

3. Quilts for the girls.  Strips made -  ready to press and make stripey blocks

Anzac Day 2012 Brighton, SA

April 25th was our first Anzac Day and we were amazed at the number of people of all ages who continue to remember those who lost their lives in many wars but particularly at Gallipoli (Turkey), The Western Front and Asia (Singapore, Burma, Malaya and Kokoda (Papua New Guinea). There is much more of a sense of Celebration for what they achieved and how their efforts shaped this country and made it what it is today. Its also a public holiday with parades and services all over the city starting at sunrise.
