Last day of the month

Easter weekend has been a bit of a washout but enjoyable nevertheless.  Friday - went to church for a brilliant service depicting many aspects of Holy Week leading up to the crucifiction.  Lots if great music, visuals and drama followed by Hot Cross Buns.

Saturday - rained all day so caught up on some recorded TV after shopping for the food.  Even managed to do some quilting (mainly practising my FMQ)

Sunday - more rain but eased by the time the family arrived for lunch.  Sun came out in the afternoon and it got quite warm.  Our lovely neighbours have given us 2 barrowloads of quality compost/veggie soil.  I think we'll be off to Bunnings tomorrow to buy seedlings for our large salad/veggie container.

What to choose?  carrots, lettuce, spinach, broccoli, spring onions, rasishes and parsley, leaving room for tomatoes and capsicums (and maybe an eggplant) in a couple of months.  All the other stuff I transplanted from overgrown pots last week seems to have survived.

Busy weekend

Had a busy but enjoyable weekend looking after the girls and Bailey.  The girls were no trouble at all and a joy to have but dear Bailey was a little difficult.

We're not used to dogs especially strong, fully gown Golden Retrievers.  He's not very good at walking without pulling you over and keeps changing directions - nightmare.  He also loves gardening - digging deep holes in the lawn, biting leaves off succulents and digging up newly planted cuttings.  He's also partial to canna lily plants and chewing paper patterns.

Hopefully he'll be a bit better behaved next time they all come to stay!  He's a big softy really and very loveable but just hard work at the moment.

Had a great day out with Karen and the girls, kayaking on the Port River with the dolphins and exploring the mangrove inlets and swamps. Bit stiff today but it was an amazing experience and worth getting a few blisters

Had a great day out with the Probus group at 2 museums at Port Adelaide. Maritime Museum first, Lunch at the Micro-brewery then on to the Aviation Museum.

Finished of a busy day in town with a documentary viewing at the State Library (Part of the Fringe Festival) then on to the Theatre for a hilarious evening with Kitty Flanagan.
