Iain's 40th

Iain has been in Australia with his friend Brett to celebrate his 40th birthday and watch England in the World Cup Cricket.  Cricket was a bit of a let down and his time in Adelaide was too short but at least They've seen plenty of South Australia (especially the Wineries, Riverland and great Southern beaches) Sydney and Melbourne

Bye bye summer

Apart from a couple of wet days after the bush fires back in January, we have not seen rain until a small shower a week ago.  Poor garden is suffering but at least the atrium has been rebuilt and we should stay dry indoors this Winter!

We've walked on the beaches, visited the city lights and explored the Fleurieu taking advantage of the long sunny days

February

What a difference in the weather - hot, hot, hot for 10 days ............... world cup cricket, beach walks and doing 12,000 steps a day.  Enjoyed the Tour down Under last month and now we have a month of cricket!

wet, wet, wet

At least the fires are out but 100 - 200 mm of rain is a bit much. Thankfully we are only due to get 30mm (still over 1") in a short space of time in the Metropolitan area.  No wonder our poor atrium is leaking like a sieve!  Looks like the cricket will be off tonight and the trip to the beach with the girls planned for tomorrow will have to wait for another day.

hot, hot, hot

Was 44 but a cooler 38 today.  Praying that the predicted rains in the north will reach us soon and help damp down the terrible bush fires.  The fire front covers over 100 miles and extends through the Adelaide Hills.  Kersbrook has been badly affected and Gumeracha had a near miss.  Luckily the giant rocking horse is still standing but we're not out of the woods yet.

NYD

Quick trip to Rundel Mall to get a battery for my Fitbit - all the local shops were closed.  Ended up doing a guided tour of the museum for nearly 2 hours.  Tomorrow's going to be another scorcher so probably a trip to the beach before breakfast for a swim then off to the cinema to see Benedict Cumberbatch's new film
