Floriade and Tulip Top

The flowers need a separate post.  So hard to chose the best pictures as i took over 500 in the various gardens around Canberra

Floriade was great (even better at night though we didn't have time to go back in the dark)but Tulip Top was amazing

Canberra

Had an amazing coach trip to Canberra to see Floriade and the Spring flowers.  Our capital city has lots of interesting places to visit - Government House, Museums, The Mint, Telstra Tower, the lake, War Memorial, Tulip Top Gardens, Cockington Green ......

Haven't been posting much

Winter went out with a heatwave and I've been so busy there's been no time for blogging.  So here's what we've been up to for the last couple of months.

First, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes - not surprising as I've battled high blood sugar levels and kept them at bay for 15 years.  My diet is good but I can't seem to lose weight.  The doctor suggested i try more exercise as it will help the condition as also lower my cholesterol.  So ............ we bought a (no, not a Jeep) exercise bike.  I've got a Fitbit Zip which counts my steps and I regularly get 10,000 - 15,000 in a day.  It links to my phone and computer and encourages me to keep active!

Had a blissful few days away in a delightful cottage in Mintaro, Clare Valley.  coming straight after a tour of Canberra, I feel we'll rested.  It's a long time since we had a 2 week holiday

Hurry up Spring

This cold is really getting to me. I've never experience such a long cold and wet winter in South Australia and I'm fed up with 10 degrees or less during the day and 4 at night - our houses aren't built for that kind of weather.

I relish the odd sunny day and today actually reached 16 - can't believe that feels warm. The gardens look lovely as the rain has brought the flowers on.  Beach walk are nice even in the cold but it takes e ages to get motivated.  Went to the cinema twice this week in an effort to get out.  Enjoyed both Freedom and  The 100 Steps.

Walked away the cobwebs

Its been so cold (2 degrees at night) and wet - torrential rain, hail, thunder and strong winds, and I'm getting fed up with Winter.  Took advantage of a beautiful sunny day to walk the cliff tops and beach 'down south' to blow the cobwebs away.

Those surfers are tough - can't believe they're out there in full wetsuits with boots, gloves and helmets.  I suppose it keeps them warm.
